I've been hearing rumours about Canon's supposed new pro camera to be released later this year -- 1D3, with 23 megapixels. Interesting to think about -- especially about what it will do to the price of the 1Ds Mark II and 5D.

they'll probably pitch it at £7k - where the original 1DS was. The other prices wouldn't have to shift much.

It'll be interesting to see how they "improve" the other features of the camera in line with the increased Mega-pixels.

It'd be nice to see dual-card formats with writing (say) RAW to CF and JPEG to SD. A bit of extra security !

Only 23mb? peanuts compaired to the H2D that's 39mb.
Seriously do we need more and more mb's surely a wider dynamic range is needed more.
I reckon the camera boys are in league with the computer boys, bigger files need more computing power, as I'm finding out, so buy a new camera and you'll soon be buying a new computer. That is one of the reasons I have stayed with the 10Ds.

More megapixels doesnt interest me in the slightest.

I can print 30 by 40 no problem.

More contrast range thats what we want. But you are right Megapixels sell cameras.
