View Full Version : Monitor Calibration

Does anyone use any tools/techniques for calibrating their monitor to the printed output they receive.

My flatscreens always appear too light (that is the prints sometimes tend come out too dark). I have tried setting them down at their lowest darkness settings but they are generally too light (compared with the prints). if you see what I mean.

Is this a feature of flatscreens - maybe I was lucky with my old IBM P70 CRT?

I have seen reviews of (I think) a "Spider" for calibrating screens but it seems overkill (and expensive) if it's an issue with the screen.

Cheers

Mark

Just purchased Spyder software for that very reason - seems to make my screen look a bit green but the finished article as printed appears okay - early days!

A great deal depends on your printer, what kind of ink you use as well as the quality of your monitor.

Always CRT for me. Flat screens colour seems to shift as you move your head.

Tried a spider and after all the processing couldnt see any difference from what I had set it at using Rack of Eye.

We had a little discussion about it here if you are interested CLICK HERE (http://www.wedding-photography.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34&highlight=calibration)
