I found out what's up with my msn. My IE is running a proxy that WLM doesn't like, so won't run. Strange thing being that I have never set a proxy, and it's only me that uses the PC. I tried to access my internet options, but when I click on it it flashes on for a second and then goes off again, so it looks like I'm locked out.

So I went to regedit>HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Policies>Microsoft but couldn't find IE (which should be there.). So I tried the same steps using HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE instead of HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Still no luck finding IE.

I do daily scans with AVG, Adaware and spybot..so I'm fairly sure it's not a virus or spyware.

I've also done the above steps in safe mode and tried a system restore, but no joy.

Anyone got any ideas how I can unlock internet options or a backdoor so I can disable the proxy?

Have you tried booting into safe mode as Administrator?

Try this, unplug yourself from the net and see if you can work with it. I've had to do that to some sites that wouldn't let me delete info about them.

Have you tried clicking on start- control panel-internet options-connections-down bottom will find Lan settings..you will be able to change proxy settings there! :)

I booted up the PC this morning and clicked to load IE7 and it won't load all I get is an error message to send to microsoft. So I tried to uninstall IE7 to roll back to IE6 but it won't uninstall. I did manage to load IE6 through C:>windows>IE7 folder. So I disabled the proxy on that, but alas still can't get on, uninstall or repair IE7. :(

Gave it a go and failed unfortunately, but thanks for the suggestion. :)

Maybe you should skip IE7 altogether and load Firefox.
