I know I am not at all technically minded but I was wondering if it was possible to have small gaps between pictures when members submit multipal shots.
Quite often when photographs are the same or similar colours, they merge together and I find it dificult to tell where one finishes and the next one starts.
I know this is perhaps trivial but I just wondered if there was a way to do this.

Simplest way Jim is for the author to put a simple border around the image.

Thanks for the suggestion Tony.
Hadn't thought of that one.

I've an action to add my white and black border to an image so it's dead easy to do.

I've now been trying various ways of bordering them Tony.
I asked the question because some members are posting numerous low key pictures together and it seems a shame that they sometimes all blend into one.
I seldom post more than one at a time but I will try and remember to separate them with frames like you suggested in future.
Regards,
Jim.

Hey Jim.... if you want to have a gap in between your pics you have to upload them onto a server first (I use Photobucket.....cause its free) and then link them to the forum using the 'image code' that shows at the bottom of the pic (on photobucket)...just copy and paste the IMG code into your post....that way you can also put text in between pics also....

Thank you Bindii for the info.
I started using Photobucket when I first joined the forum because if you remember, I couldn't get any pictures to upload when submitted in "manage attachments.
Then when Stemmy changed the forums servers some weeks ago, that problem disappeared and since then I have been able to send all my pics via the "manage attachments.
I shall try it next time but my picture taking is very limited at the moment with Mrs Jim still getting over her operations.
Hope to get out and about again this spring.
Cheers Sue for your help.

As an extention to this thought I've tried using a blank image 650 x 150 pixels with the forum background colour; black in my case. I've typed a title or note in to this and saved it as an image to place under the pic.
First attempt is about to go up, should really have done that before this I suppose. Have a look a Donnington part 4 to see if it works.:blum2:

Certainly does work.
Great idea and what a difference to the overall presentation.
Trouble is that we have spent so many years is photo competitions and we know that presentation is as important as the pictures themselves.
Yes I know that this forum isn't trying to compete in the same way but it does look good doesn't it.

Agree Jim, presentation makes or breaks an image. The old competition adage of 'keep it simple' always works. Strange thing is I'd never present a print, mono or colour, on a black mount but on the forum the black background makes such a difference assuming the monitor's set up correctly.
The presentation should not distract or compete with the image but enhance it.
I do find some frames a touch heavy and a lot of the copyright and name insets somewhat overpowering; still what one likes another won't and neither is right or wrong.
