and save my sorry ass please...

I have a problem...actually I have lots of problems...but we wont go there right now...

I cannot get any images onto a disc to burn so that I can get them printed...and please dont suggest that I print them myself as I currently have about 400 that need printing..some of them a wedding reprint order...

when I try to either 'send to' or copy and paste or drag the images into the cd drive folder a little box pops up that has the image on it and it says that windows is encountering a problem and cannot read the file...they are jpegs...I bought a new cd/dvd burner but that hasnt fixed the problem...I tried to transfer the images via a transfer thingy thing and the other puter said the same thing...

I'm going nuts....

please either shoot me or help me....

:)

Mmmmm....while I'm certainly NOT a geek....and I really shouldn't be talking to you after your intro for Zeeke........ this is just a thought.....

Are the image files locked, or protected or whatever the term is nowadays?

Select one of the images in Windows >Right-Click > Properties and make sure the 'Read-Only' box is unchecked.

Just about all I can think of at the moment, while I'm sat in the corner sulking at you!

Can I assume you?re using Windows XP? If you did what Snorkel said and still not working. This is what I do. I open my file and view in thumbnail. I highlight the photo or photos by holding the Ctrl key. On the left there?s a line that has Save to CD. Is this what you use?

Sue, I guess I can't work out the problem from what you've said. But, may I suggest that you get a copy of Roxio burning software - about v8 or 9 now

(link : http://www.roxio.com/eng/products/creator/suite/overview.html)

It make all your burning very easy (smiles at camera).

Have you checked that you can successfully burn OTHER files to the CD writer?

Can you copy the files to another folder on your disk?

Do you have access to another computer to put the files on & try burning?

Are you sure you have the CD in the drive the right way up? Not intended as a 'thick girly' question. The last pack of CDs I bought had very little to indicate the top surface and it's easy to turn the damn things over without thinking.

Lol...trust me Keith when it comes to stuff like this I am thick girly...

but yeah the discs are white one side...and yup I've tried it both ways...:)

Barry has suggested that maybe I have a bad batch of discs so tomorrow I will buy some new ones and try them just in case.... *fingers crossed*

Therefore the issue must be in the CD burner - try device manager in control panel & there are then some diagnosis options - sorry can't stay any longer to help as have to go out to florist to arrange wedding flowers (my wedding that is - only a month off now!!) Best of luck Ian

I was thinking the same thing when I read that you can?t burn anything. Go to your ?Control Panel? then ?System? folder. Click on the ?Hardware? tab and open the ?Device Manager?. Click on your ?CD Drive? plus sign (+). If you see a yellow caution symbol you know you have a problem.

If you ?Right-click? on the drive problem and check the ?Properties? it will tell you if it?s working okay or not. You can also right-click on it and uninstall it from there then reload your program disk again. You?ll have to go through this again after re-loading to see if it took. If not take it back and get another unit.

One other possible cause has just occurred to me. Do you have more than one software package that will burn CDs? If so it's possible that one of them is 'using' the CD. It happened to me when I updated 'DirectCD'. Every time the computer starts up a dialog box displays 'Drive in use by Home' or words to that effect. I haven't got round to sorting the problem yet. I just use Roxio on the other burner.

That could be it also!

OMG! Its fixed...:woot:

it was a bad batch of cd's!!!

I bought some more this morning and the images burnt onto them straight away...the guy at the computer store said that I wasn't the only one who had troubles with the last batch...I cannot tell you how relieved I am!

I really want to thank everyone who helped me with this...especially IanG who went to so much trouble quietly in the background to look up different things that might be wrong...And Earl, Snorks,Wiley, Chris, Keith, Barry and Barton thank you also to take the time to try and work out what was wrong...I lurve you all for it!
