One of my acting friends posted this on the amdram site...
"Here's something to be aware of - apparently there is a large number of counterfeit memory cards doing the rounds just now. One particular brand that is being counterfeited a lot is SanDisk. Should you buy a SanDisk Compact Flash card, examine it closely. There should be a serial number printed in white on one of the thin edges. If that's not there, return the card immediately.
As you may guess, I bought a counterfeit card. I had no idea it was fake until I contacted SanDisk to complain it was sometimes losing pictures. The original retailer's web site is permanently "under development" and I have found out that the company is under investigation by Trading Standards authorities."
Don't know who the "original retailers" was at the moment..
I think you just got to be careful where you get your cards from...
