It?s snowing outside pretty heavy so I?m playing with my PS7 and working with some preset brushes. So I open a new file, 800x600 @ 72 DPI with a transparent background.

I found a brush called Wow-BT Oil X-large in my brush presets. The brush size is 99 and I choose a color in the pallet 103, 83, 83 that you?ll see is in the gray area. If you try this you can experiment with the different colors.

Then I proceeded to paint a frame one side at a time, freehand so it doesn?t look very straight on the inside. Then I took my rectangular tool set at 0 feather and selected an area inside the painted area. Now I could have inversed my selection here and cleared around the frame but I wanted to cut and paste to a new file so I could resize the image.

I opened a new file and pasted my selection. Here I check the image size. I unchecked the constrain proportions box and made my image 5x7. I now have a frame to work with.

When you place a photo behind this frame it even acts like gauze because you can see through it. So keep that in mind. Then you can rotate the frame to use it horizontal or vertical. This is one I used.
