ok thanks guys - so will they work out the ratio for me??? I am just worried about having it printed and losing part of the pic which happened to me before on a large print and ruined the whole look of it

Jen, i`ve just run it up on photoshop. its just outside of the 3x2 or 1 to 1.50 ratio. if you resize it (untick constrain proportion) to 12x 8 or whatever size you want, the picture will adjust without any detectable distortion or loss of image. to the correct ratio ( 1 to 1.5) which any printer should handle. Just try it without saving and see if you like it first.

choose the print size you want and crop you image to suit.
choose crop tool, and in the boxes put (say) "16 in" in one box and "12 in" in other box.
then drag the crop box out as big as it goes on the dimension you won't lose any, and drag it to best position to lose what you can lose with least impact.

Thank you I will do that with the ratio :) However, I have just uploaded it through to peak imaging and they have replied saying it is a small pic and the largest they rtecommend is 9 x 5 :( Its over 1MB in size

that's very small. 1.4megapixels.
Heavy crop?
if not, need to give them the full size version

hmmmmm just looked Steve and its not that heavy a crop - the original is 5.86MB but I did combine 3 pics in machinery for this - wondering if that made them smaller - will have to re do it tonight, got a feeling I had machinery set to save small by mistake

Just remember Jen, print res is 300 ppi ( canvas is ok at 150 ) so divide your image pixel dimension by 300 and thats the max size print thats practicable.
My uploads are usually in the region of 12 meg upwards.
