There might be an add-on for vbulletin that enables you to click 1-5 stars to rate the pictures, might be an idea instead of commenting every time?

Thanks Choogster. If you have a link or something please let me know. But I will have a look for it tonight.

Could it be used for voting on the IOTM comps too?

Give each image a rating, instead of a vote, tehn total up the ratings for the winner.

I quite liked the voting system we have. Do you think we need another system ?

I like the idea of the rating system.
In January's IOTM for example there were 3 images which stood out for me above all the rest, but choosing one of the three was very difficult. The rating style of voting would have made voting easier.

And I do like an easy life :Dm :lazy2:

I will look into it. I have a better idea of what you mean now. You mean that just having one vote is a bit tricky when there are a few good images. Ahh right - will see what there is.

Dotty

The Subject of the month doesnt have a final vote. The vote is at the begining and is to decide what the subject is. The only "Best Picture" vote is in Image of the month.

I am not really in favour of a points based voting system....it can lead to tactical voting and anomolous outcomes.

If a points system is used, then something like that used in F1 racing needs to be adopted to weight things in favour of any image getting a first place ranking. If this sort of system is not used, then you get anomalies such as an image with lots of lower rank marks winning over another with a few higher mark ranks.

I like the system as it is. After all it is only for fun, isnt it? Unless of course Martin is giving away top range digital SLRs as prizes :Dm

For interest F1 points system is:-

1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 5 points
5th place: 4 points
6th place: 3 points
7th place: 2 points
8th place: 1 points

So, hang on a minute - we're going to win a Formula One car?

and Stemmy takes a picture of it with a DSLR?
