Hi everyone,
I have recently been doing some portrait work for a friend of mine and noticed a single vertical line through the center of the images when i download onto my PC.
The healing brush seems unable to resolve the issue but i am more concerned with what is causing the problem.
I have checked my lenses and filters and can find no scratches or marks, nor is there anything visible internally on the sensor.
The problem only seems to occur in low light conditions but can been seen in brighter shots occasionally if there is a dark background.
Has anyone else had this problem and know of any solutions?
I have attatched an image in an attempt to show more clearly what im waffling on about.
Kind regards in advance, Col

I can't find any trace of a fault in your image, however I seem to remember reading somewhwere that Sony Triniton CRTs can display lines such as these. Is this perhaps your problem ?
A Quick Google search cames up with this.

Hi to all,
Thanks for the quick replies, the line appears just to the side of the right eye but is quite fine so can be difficult to see.
The size of the image doesnt help either making it more pixelated that it would normally be be.
I have just tried cropping the image so i can re-post it at a reasonable size and found the line disapears after it has been cropped.
I have no idea why this is but it seems to have solved the man problem of how do i get rid of the line.
Out of curiosity if anyone else has an idea of how these are caused and how to avoid theim it would be appreciated.
Kind regards, Col

it can be a compression pattern? it appears in the same location when you use different compression levels? it appears if you same the photo in a lossles file format?

Could it be a piece of dust/hair on the sensor? Too small to be seen by eye?

i dont think that dust/hair can explain this

Problems can occur when viewing images in photoshop at anything other than 100%.
If you are viewing an image at 66.66666 percent then photoshop can struggle to show the image and makes mistakes.
Does this solve the problem - try viewing the image at a round number ie. 25% or 50% or 100%
