At focus (Jacobs) I bought an Extreme III 8Gb for £85 - absolutely thrilled with it. Already got in the habit of not taking any spare cards out with me. That's nearly 900 compressed RAW!!

Had a look at that site. I have 5 1gb extreme II cards but was tempted to get more at those prices. Dont know if i can justify the spend though.

Yes it is Mark and it's a good point, but you've got to have faith in your equipment - that's why I use Nikon pro equipment and genuine Sandisk Extreme cards. I might only take 200 shots at a wedding on a 2Gb card and lose that. I'd rather trust to expensive proven technology rather than spread the risk across cheaper brands.

And that's why I use 1 & 2 gig branded cards, mainly Kingston and Dane-Electric. Ironically the only card I've ever had a problem with was a Scandisk 1 gig SD in the Leica and that was due to it being stressed by being bent when taking it out of the camera.
I do wonder at the life span of a card, I seen to remember Dane quoting 10,000 rewrites. That's a 27+ year life span using the card and clearing it every day. Same applies to a sensor, they must have a finite life span. It'd be great to turn up for a shoot to find the sensors packed in, you can't just pop a new one in like you could a film :stir::stir::)

I was mooching round Amazon today and saw Sandisk Extreme II or III (not usre which) 2 gig cards for about £19 - not from Amazon, but from one of their marketplace partners. Seemed quite cheap to me.

and that's why I dump on site my cards onto my portable hard drive thingy so that I already have a backup, just in case.. :)
