Really must go back here with a tripod. There are some super details in the church. Two of these shots are HDR using PhotoMatix, one is 7 frames taken off a single RAW file; not the ideal way to do this. The other is 5 frames at 1EV spacing, hand held and using PM's alignment tool which has done a good job. Using this prog costs a lot less than a Fuji S5 :grin::grin::grin:
No prizes for quessing which these two are, I suspect Chris will know immediately.
The memorials are Corbets who built this place, it must have seemed like the back of beyond then even, still does actually, tho' it's only 10 miles or so from Shrewsbury.

Last one for me Tony. Some are far to noisy. 2nd appears out of focus. Agree you need to use tripod for these and lower the ISO but appreciate the . What were your settings?

All the best

The first and last were at ISO100, the rest 800 with on camera flash (except the window which had no flash), not ideal but it got the shot. I've not used any noise reduction, people are getting paranoid about noise, if these had been on ISO 800, or even some 400, film the grain would have been a lot worse. Maybe 'cos I grew up with film noise does not bother me so long as it's crisp, in fact I'd rather have noise than the super smooth plastic looking images so typical of a certain make of camera. Grain or noise is an integral part of a photographic image for me tho' why people introduce it into mono images that don't need it beats me.
The first shot I had jamed the camera against the handrail for the steps into the pulpit with the camera strap wrapped around one of the uprights, the exposure was well over 2 secs. I did RAW conversions between -4 and +2 EV which were HDR tone mapped in PM. The last one was also handheld with the camera on fast burst to get the 5 frames bracketing for a proper HDR image, PhotoMatix has done an excelent job of aligning these images.

you were right, this place looks like an awesome spot to visit. Nothin' like this in my neck of the woods!!! I really like the first and last.

and as for grain, i'm w/ you. Some shots are better for having a little grain in them.
