but here goes nothing...

I had a problem with my computer losing windows media player...and martin said he saw something about dust in the monitor effecting certain programs..he suggested I tilt the monitor 90 degree's....which I kinda did...by swivelling it around...my monitor is a flat screen thingy that swivels...

anyway...I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not...but windows media player is back and working...:)

nice tip sue, no hes right, the crt matrix tube in back gathers dust and can cause software to go a bit dippy, ive tried this method a couple of times and allworks well.

I was told the orientation of the matrix tube in the monitor can affect which way you should rotate the screen - either verticle or horizontal. The last thing you want to do is shake more dust into the matrix - this could cause multiple programs from responding.

yer i came across this sometime ago, at first i thought it a bit strange but a fella who worked for a roving display caravan said he did it all the time... esp when he was near a factory or industrial complex.

I have tried rotating my screen to a vertical position, but now I have to tilt my head to see the picture properly. Is this normal?

Yes, don't worry about it. My office chair has a special lever that rotates the whole chair for me - saves my neck you see. You do need to remember to strap yourself in befoer pulling the lever though - I ended up with red wine stains all over a new white carpet the first time I tried it, also not a good idea to do it near an open window!

IMHO this problem is only found with PC monitors used in the southern hemisphere..... so you are probably best taking the photographs with the camera in the vertical postion every time and then the pictures will always be the correct way around................. or if that fails i did read somewhere that you can view the screen in a mirror which has been rotated 90' from its designed position and that would also work...... hope this helps

Hi,

I keep reading this thread and don't know if I should laugh or cry. :help:

I just blow into my flat screen (sometimes I talk to it nicely) and then switch it back on and all is well. All the little dots light up and my software purrs away nicely.

Good little PC - now where is my laptop!!?? **sarcasm2**
