Nice candid Kirsty, for me all the clutter, light switches, radiators etc are part of the subjects environment and thus important. I much prefer this style of portraiture than the stylized impersonal studio suff.
I've tried a tighter crop which is more to my taste. Also I rather like the questions asked by her looking out of frame to the left.

It was very much a candid shot- she wasnt really in the mood for posing for me lol! She said i could have one go at it whilst she was talking to my mum.I wasnt sure whether to edit out the bits on the right, but decided to leave it as it looked odd without. Cropped version is cool as it makes it all a bit tighter& you've manages to 'frame' her to the left which i like, will be good to see what other people come up with.

Well done Kirsty. You have captured your friend looking vey relaxed and natural. Something I never seem to manage with portraits.
Just to be diffeent, I thought I would try a tighter crop, and rotated a little to put the eyes on a slope. I also sharpened the eyes, nose and mouth, lightened the hair a little. I just never know when to stop :stop:
Oh, forgot to say....lovely young lady !

Just a bit of dodging n burning and a touch of diffuse in PS.. Brings our the catchlights and the white of her eyes and darkens the pupils..

I very much like the pause for reflection one.
What did you do to her eyes?

Absolutely nothing Kirsty. It was a simple create a new document in PSCS sized twice the width of the supplied image and the same height. Then took the original, desaturated it, copied into the new document, used Free Tranform to move into place, then repeated this process but flipping the image to provide a mirror image.
Then created the border, added the text and bingo! ... Job done :o)

Sorry Kirsty,
I fiddled about with them because I wanted her to look across the direction the face was pointing at. I begged for forgiveness in advance because some people find such manipulation sick and I didn't want to offend should you be one of those people.
