Hi

Took some images of a lovely baby recently.
Because she was very young, her skin was not very clear, little veins also
some very slight blue facial areas.

To some of you who photograph babies, do you have a favourite technique to reduce these problems.
I am posting two images
one with the pink background has not been adjusted
and the other close up image which i have adjusted using two layers and adding the gaussian blur filter, this has improved the image, but wondered if you had any advice regarding a better technique.

best regards
Tommy

Tommy,

Lovely pictures - they are a little small for others to play with though - try re-posting with the longest side at 800 pixs. The techniques you're talking about have been covered a few times; one of the more recent ones was here:

Hi Chris

Thanks for the link, very helpful!
I have tried some of the techniques and they certainly
do improve the skin tones and textures. ( See new pic )
By the i probably should have posted this in a diffent category because i just want some advice on improving babies skin, which i will then try out the techniques myself.

Many thanks again

I worked with the first photo in Photoshop7. After opening it I copied the layer then added Gaussian Blur to it to soften the skin. Then using an eraser tool I erased the areas I wanted to make sharp again; eyes, nose, mouth and dress. Also the fingers.

Then it looked like too much red so I did a hue change and removed just some of the red. This is what I got. Very cute baby.
