In my Windows Task manager I have a program running called Fixcamera.exe - I have no idea what it is and a search of Google doesn't seem to help - except lots of other people concerned about what it is/does.
I run anti-virus, anti-spyware and a firewall - so I would have hoped that if it was slightly dubious it would have been picked up.
I am running XP Pro SP2 with all the hot-fixes applied.
Anyone else have it/know what it is/does?
Cheers

not had that problem mate, had a scan around google but just seems to point to it, without any reasoning to what it is or what it does. Id just delete it and maybe use a proggy i use called easy cleaner (free) that wipes out old registry settings. Its a fantastic proggy, it finds all registry events not used and allows you to mass delete, i tend to use it once a month and stay relatively clean.

Thanks George - I had found those in my searches - but they don't actually tell you anything?? They seem to be saying "It's a program we don't know by a company we don't know".
I was hoping for "provided by Adobe as part of CS2 to fix camera something or other" or something like that anyway.
Nobody seems to know where they come from.
Thanks for the pointer Barry - will investigate - although I am wary of mass deleting anything - expecially from the registry ..gulp!
Cheers

Honestly mate, it only deletes unused or defunct registry settins, it quickly scans and brings up the list, nothing installed that is being used is deleted, only those old proggys and old addins we get all the time.

Panic over:
Files called fixcamera.exe tsnp2std.exe and snp2std.exe install with the Speed S8800 USB 2.0 Webcam with Microphone. These files will generally be found in your c:\Windows folder. Because the manufacturer is located in China, some references to these files may appear in simplified Chinese. The files do need to be running when your webcam is in use. The don't necessarily need to be running all the time.
See its easy!!

I would errr on the side of caution 1st Barry rather than just delete something. I would either rename the file to fixcamera.old or even better in winXP goto
Start > Run and type MSCONFIG.
Select the right hand tab called startup and just disable the item thats related to fixcamera.exe.
That way if you find it is important afterall you can quickly renable it by doing the reverse....
Anyhows, glad you got it sorted in the end :)
