Any one got the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens

Has anyone got the new 18-200mm VR nikon lens. Ive read so much about it that it seems the perfect allrounder. Just wandered if anyone had some example images.

I have rung around alot of dealers to get hold off one, guess what, all sold out and there is a 3 month waiting list. Well i bit the bullet and have orded one from USA. The tracking notice states its on its way through Jamaica.
Cant wait to get it. Got a small wedding to do on Saturday, rather hoping it would be here by then to give it a run....Have to hope

I will have one in around 3 hours time when it arrives via Royal Mail special delivery!!! (Midday 16th March)

    Can't wait

I have another one on order as well which should come in the next week or so. I don't need two so if anyone want it at cost price let me know. It will be coming from Purdys and I could get them to deliver it straight to you.

Not a great day here but will venture out to take some test shots as I have been waiting for this lens to arrive for a month now.

I am without CS2 at the moment as my PC failed yet again (posted on this forum elsewhere) so will enjoy using Elements for the first time in a while.

I hope your lens comes through ok from the States - I am n ot sure I am brave enough to do that (apart from using B&H)

    Got it!!

Here are the very first 2 pictures I took. literally out the window onto the garden.

Both at 1/13 at f5.6 at 200mm at ISO 100 on a D200. No enhancment at all in PS and shot in RAW. Just a simple "save for web" done to them (apart from sharpening on the last one)

    Without VR

    With VR

With VR and sharpened in PS

I am very impressed with this lens. The only problem is that I now have a job on this afternoon so cannot go out and play

Will seriously be looking at getting other VR lenses in the future.

Just the very type off post i was after. I do like the results.
    The VR is very noticable.
Thanks for going out of your way to do that.

I have often had stuff posted from Hong Kong and the states. If you factor the import tax into the total then things can still be alot cheaper. Hopefully this one wont be the first sting..........Memory is the thing i buy the most off..we are charged a 1/3 more in uk.
Thanks Again..if you have any more examples then please show..

    Hi James

I have only had the lens for 9 hours and have been out all day so no time to use it unfortunatly!

I have just got a Sandisk Extreme III 4gb for £146 from Amazon.co.uk.... Pretty good I thought.

Will try to take some pics tomorrow if not next weekend at a wedding.

I have a 17-80mm lens and a 105mm macro lens. I have just put my Sigma 80-400mm with Optical Stabilizer up for sale on E-bay as I wasn't using the length that much. I have been wondering whether to limit myself to a 200mm max lens and obviously I am considering the 80-200 VR. Shame about the cost. I haven't looked into it too much but are they really not available in the UK?
