Exclamation xd to smart media, will it work on a canon printer model selphy cp740

    hello everyone

I am getting confused over this, i have ordered a .
Canon printer, model selphy cp740 and i have just found out that i will need to buy an adapter. :(x

Thats why i ordered it because it said it had a card reader, and i thought it would read XD cards, with them being popular

But i am getting confused over which one. here is a quote from one of the reviews, that i read, at this point i should say that i do have a xd memory card (type M) 1gb...

This is a good quality simple to use, no nonsense photo printer and at a good price. However there are a few things to bear in mind! If you have a camera with an XD memory card you may will need to buy an adapter for it to work and make full use of the options!.......this can be expensive for a XD to Compact Flash adapter, the XD to Smart Media adapter on Amazon is a lot cheaper and hopefully will fit and work in the SD card slot.
Other wise you fill have to use your cameras USB cable to connect it up and print using the lcd screen on the camera, but losing the printer options. Although a bit more expensive the CP750 allows you to crop and adjust the colour settings which this model doesn't.
Overall a good easy to use printer with great results, but think twice of you have an XD or Micro memory card that will need an adapter, and if this model had the trim and crop option it would have made it a 5 star rating and just might be worth the extra for the CP750 for some.
the XD to Smart Media adapter on Amazon is a lot cheaper and hopefully will fit and work in the SD card slot.
I am a bit new in this area, is the slot on the printer called an sd slotWhere i would insert the xd card in this adapter, and then the adapter go's into the sd slot on the printer.

Another thing some of these adapters do not take type M xd cards or 1gb capacity..........i know i am trying to save a few pounds if the xd to smart media adapter, doe's work with this printer model.

I cannot give you a direct link, as this is my first post, but you can copy it in your address bar, if you add the www

I hope somebody can advise me , if the xd to smart media adapter will work in this model of printer, and my type of xd card being type M and 1gb capacity for use in the adapter.

Its going to be a christmas present, and i want to make sure that everything is there , for use with the printer.
The present is also for someone who has a fugifilm/camera with an xd card

Thankyou very much for your replys

You will get an adapter for £7.99 on ebay, just plug the xd card into adapter and on printer there will be a wide thin slot marked SM.

Hi, I see no reason why not, the adapter after all is only taking the info from the xd and feeding it to the printer.

Another alternative is buy smaller xd cards, or connect camera directly to printer via USB cable.

Thats probably what i can do if i cannot get one that supports 1gb.
I did know about connecting the camera direcly to the printer, but you loose some of the options on the printer i believe.

Never mind, i shall settle for a xd to smart media adapter.
