A wordpress site

Hello.

Question 1:
Im currently trying to create my own website to display my images. Ive been working on a wordpress site but the "plug-in" tab on the left does not show up.

Question 2:
Ive downloaded a wordpress theme but I can't find where to upload it.

Would it be the fact I only have a free word press account?

Nothing to do with the free bit im sure all of wordpress is free.

You need to go into the backend of the site and change the theme from the setting tab

I take it by free you mean you have a free account on the Wordpress site?

Normally, you upload themes to the wp-content/themes folder, then go to your admin panel, select 'appearance/themes/manage themes where your uploaded theme should appear, you can then check the box to activate it.

You can upload direct from your admin panel, go to appearance/themes/install themes, where you should see a link to 'upload', you can then select a theme file on your PC and upload it. I'm guessing the free wordpress account means you don;t have ftp access to upload your own themes so probably have to do it via the admin panel upload (that's if those free accounts allow you to upload themse, not sure as my Wordpress accounts are on my own server)

Ah im on my own server too so never had to do it that way

I did download some wordpress stuff and wordpress 3.3.1 last night but I got lost with it all, lol

You could always try using some free webspace.

This is one that a couple of people were talking about on another photography site, might be worth a try...

Thanks Garry. I need to get a hang of this wordpress lark. All I can do is edit the pages etc through the wordpress site itself.

what are you actualey trying to do with the site, i'e new theme or a widget etc, if its new theme, log into your control pannel then go to apearence, theme, add new theme, once you choose one and istall it make sure you activate it.
