Yes some of the later screens are stuck to the digitiser... I did an ipod4 a few weeks ago and had to bake the screen and lcd in the oven at 140 to separate the two. Worked ok afterwards but not easy!

I know it seems like a con, but I've taken the insurance for both my phones so if anything happens I can get it fixed.
The problem is, everyone is tied into 2 year contracts with the same phone, so if my Galaxy SIII (mrs) or Galaxy Note (mine) should so happen to fall it can get replaced.
And this includes accidental & water damage.
I think the screen is held on with glue and a quick look discovered you may just need to heat & separate the glue. Thus the £5 screen might do.

I had phone insurance for years but it started going up on price and I'd never claimed. I did check the contents insurance before I decided to stop taking phone insurance and it seemed to be covered but no doubt they'll wiggle out of it some how.

Ah contents insurance doesn't cover accidental damage on portable items... Oh well. The money I've saved from the last 2-3 years of not paying for phone insurance will pay for the LCD screen.
But I might investigate phone insurance again now - any recommendations? Orange Care is £6 a month.

That's why I stopped my iPhone insurance. If I break it the max it costs for a new phone is 125 as long as I have it. If I'm stupid enough to lose it then I will have to buy a new one
