Really like this shot mate, very interesting.
A little selective contrast and USM to bring in some sky detail, a slight tweak in curves, a colourfy and then added some noise.
I liked the shapes made by the cranes and tried a mono (sepia) conversion.
what would you do with this pic? (other than bin it ;)c)

I think the cranes & containers make a great pattern with strong colours, but you need a longer lens to really get just that part into the subject, nice though the Solent is, the expanse of water is a tad boring & the green sticky up thing (what a nautical nation the British are!!) is really in the way.
Cheers

I've a feeling this is what Ian means...
i've cloned that green thing out, cropped off the white dome thing (thought that was in London) fixed the max black of course and tweeked the curve a bit, had to be a bit hard with the sharpening as it was a small file to start with so please excuse the artifacts.

Do as you will but harm no one.The more you learn....the more you learn there is more to learn.Technique is always subservient to image content
I worked like a pencil sketch and then adjusted the contrast.

Thanks all, it's interesting to see other ideas.
I love that edit Ross it really suits the industrial scene.
Tony I think the white dome thing is the David Lloyd Tennis club although this is the wrong side of the water for me so I may have my bearings wrong. I see where you're going with your edit and it does highlight Paul's point in the other thread about straightening the water line![]()
