Look really nice. In the old days we used to smoke to keep the midges, but have learnt to suffer the midges rather than lung problems...:((

Like the reflections in this Barry, get yourself a midge face net and wear thin gloves (golf gloves are ideal)

I've got both with me Paul, I just didn't want to leave my gear set up to go back to the motorhome to get them! I'll put them in my camera bag for next time.

It's a classic Barry. Midges are one core reason why I don't go out in the summer. They take all the enjoyment out of photography this time of year.

Beautiful shot. I've taken to avoiding some of our wetlands just because of the biting insects. They are extra annoying this year since we didn't have much of a winter.

Great timing, well done.
I must see if I can arrange a leisurely passing sometime with the tide in, good lighting & nice clouds in the background...
Passing Eileen Donan at all is quite rare for me (over 10 hours drive) & I think the tides always been low when I've seen it.

It was the first time for me not to have a green sea of weed in the foreground too!

Nothing wrong with a quick stop at the Castle. If there are reflections about it is a must.

The midges can be something but I just learn to live with them - it's a small price to pay to shoot in the most wonderful time of year :). Long sleaves, hat and trousers if you find them annoying. Taps aff like me if you just accept them for what they are. A harmless annoyance.

Beautiful shot Barry, I love the serene feeling and viewing it on a screen while not being eaten alive is a plus. :exit:

Wonderful work Barry, very peaceful looking spot and your effort gives it a calming appeal. In W.A. we don't have castles because your convicts didn't have the skills! We do however have a place called Castle Rock in our south west if that counts - probably not :)

You've caught a very "cosy" yet isolated setting, and yet again a kind of romantic serenity, I'd love to be nestled up in there with my first girlfriend far, far away from the maddening crowd and yet true with the supreme stillness but forces of Nature... It's therefore a great portrayal of the scene.
