I have the task of disposing of two pre-WWII cameras and some film inherited from my grandfather, and I'd appreciate some advice.
I don't know if I should find a specialist (physical) auction house, put them on eBay, put them on some other online auction site, or give them away.
I live in Ireland, and a local professional photography shop said there was no market for them here, but I could bring the items to the UK at some stage.
My understanding is that the forum rules don't allow me to describe or advertise them, but I'm happy to send details by email.

Hello and welcome to the forum. You're partly correct in that statement. No, you are not allowed to advertise them for sale here, but yes, you can describe them and/or post pictures of them as part of an information search. We can try to help you in that way.

BTW, for a tenner, you would be able to become a Premium member for a year. Advertising in the Buy/Sell section is one of the perks which come along with that. ;)

Post some pictures. or links to pictures of the equipment. I have been collecting cameras for some 50+ years, and have a few books. Good chance I'll know what it is, or be able to find out.

35mm gear is increasing in value again. Lenses for 35mm cameras, especially Rangefinder cameras, have shot up.

Thanks for the advice. The two items are a Zeiss Super Ikonta, and a Citaskop DRP stereo camera with magazine and packs of unexposed Ilford glass slides. Both in working order, with leather cases and a bunch of accessories. I have been unable to find out if these are collectors' items or just curiosities.

This one is priced high- but has the same lens as yours.

Another with a Faster lens is priced at $350. The German cameras in good condition carry value.

The second camera- I did a search on Stereo Plate Camera-

This one looks like it.

I've seen this one, or one like it in one of my Books in the basement. Need to look for it.

Hard to judge value of uncommon/old cameras by the price of one or two auctions, but your cameras are probably worth a few $100.

The above are Similar models: any identifying numbers or names on yours would narrow this down.

There are camera shops and dealers that will sell on consignment, usually 20% to 40%. I would look for one of those first. They know their customers, and who is interested in what. These are not the type of cameras to just give to a thrift store. Sell them, or donate to a small Museum of technology, or find an enthusiast. Not worth Thousands, few cameras and lenses are. Worth Hundreds to the right person.

Nice. I have a couple of 1930 cameras. They have little monetary value, but are just nice to keep, and hopefully pass onto the grandchildren if they might value them for what they are.

This Thornton Packard is a plate camera, (SLR!) I bought it at an auction as part of a photo package which included an enlarger that I wanted. I have stuck some photo paper on the plate carrier, and exposed it for a bit of fun...years ago mind...

Thanks, that's the one (odd that it doesn't come up when I search from here).

Yes, very close. This one is even closer, but lacks any data.

Thank you, this is very helpful. No shops like that anywhere near here but I can look wider.

Found the Citoskop on Ebay-
Even has a case looks like yours.
Thank you, yes, that's it. Weird that my search failed to find it.
