As I leaned over my desk I heard a small crack

No, not my back but the SD Card in my pocket. There goes the photos for May 6 in my 365. I tried two card readers and the camera, nothing can read the card. From the outside it looks ok, but I suspect I broke something on the inside. One of my faster cards as well, a Lexar 1000X 150MB/s card.

I think I had a few decent shots on it, the card can be replaced for $28.

I've had some close calls but never lost everything, that's terrible.

Could have been a lot worse, Don; it could have been a filter you did it with!

Well if you think about the size of the card, we need a math nerd to calculate the odds of me doing that.

Yes, that would be. I would never have a filter in a pocket though. I had the card because I stopped and popped the card out while on my way to the computer to start work today.

Well I was trying to be nice, but the thought did cross my mind.

Have you tried Recuva Don as one of your readers.

For that to work the reader has to see the card. Nothing even detects it. I think the connection from the contacts to the memory broke.

Sorry for the loss of the card, but I'm really glad it wasn't your back!

I’ve broken SD cards that way before. I had one with some shots I wanted to recover so resorted to some soldering and managed to recover the shots. It was a challenge but was worth it.

I popped the cover off. I cannot see where the break is, but I suspect it is going to the memory chips. They are way too small to manually solder even if I could see it.

Yeah, without a decent magnifier it is quite a challenge. Usually the board breaks before the chips, often just one leg pulled off or a broken track.
