I have not posted on the forum for a long while... mainly due to my personal photography taking a back seat for business reasons. However I recently saw a bargain of a compact camera Lumix TZ80 for sale in CEX for £75 as they couldn't find the charger... the camera charges via USB :)

Now this is a small sensor 18mp superzoom 30x (24mm to 720mm) with full manual control raw output and 10fps with fast focus tracking. So I took it to Cosford in my pocket as I wanted to spend some quality time with my plane mad son and not worry so much about equipment and getting the perfect shot. So here are a few from the show. None will win a prize nor will the print bigger than A4 but for what I use them for as personal photos they are great. What I am really impressed with is how well it could cope with the fast jets like the Typhoon from a camera that cost less than some of my memory cards! :)

Congratulations I wouldn't have expected anything near as good from a compact, especially at such a bargain price.
Airshows are one of the few places I though DSLRs had a huge advantage.

The sky in the last one is a little noisy, but other than that I find it hard to find any nicks to pick. Your skill clearly shows :congrats:

Yes the giveaway of the small sensor is noise so you have very little latitude with the exposure... but get it in the ball park and the quality for this type of stuff isn't bad. This model of camera is also 2 years old so recent superzoom compacts will probably be much better!

Oh dear, you're encouraging me to consider upgrading to new bodies again. My newest bodies are now about 6 years old.

I’m seeing more and more people at airshows using m43 gear now. The IQ is more than good enough. DSLRs are a pain in the ass at all day events. I seriously thought about leaving my camera at home for this years show but their was one display I really wanted a pic of, so I gave in and took the Nikon.

Great set. I have the TZ60. Whilst the images are probably not up to what you're seeing with the later model, the video capability is outstanding.
