But my favourite "amateur" famous photographer (just because his 3D rigs are so "out there" compared to many) is Dr Brian May.

Denis Healey was a keen photographer (for the youngsters, he was UK Chancellor of the Exchequer under Harold Wilson in the 1960's). There is a famous, classic, photo of Denis in a rather "stolid" stance taking a photo.

Adam Woodyatt of Eastenders fame is a very gifted photographer, I recall reading he's quite well acknowledged in the RPS.

Dennis Healey once made a TV photography programme.....must have been in the early 1970 s I remember watching it.
