A friend of mine was doing the marshaling today and he invited me to come out and take some pics.

Never tried my hand at moto sports before and I must say I was expecting a 'jumpier' track but I am pretty happy with how these came out.

    G'day Ryan

Well you've certainly given us a beaut eyefull with this collection!

Super sharp where needed - blur where it will show action - all together with excellent exposure and great colours for everyone

    Well done

Great set Ryan. You should try and get along to some grass track racing. Plenty of action to be shot there.

This is the sort of racing I use to do, but we all were mates and would turn up to a place and started to race.
There was no prizes on the end of it not even bragging rights as we all seem to have our days at winning.
So this has taken me back a long way and for that alone I think you so much.
I loved my days doing this.

For a first time at this type of action i would say you have done very well, you have certainly captured the feel of speed and plenty of dirt flying off the back wheels. A good set of images.

Thanks Stephen, I did try some slower shutter speeds to try and get more wheel blur but my panning need a bit of work to get the riders in focus as I got lots of oof shots like that.
    Cheers Barry:)

Just got around to commenting Ryan after your comment on my post. I think these are fantastic and better than I did the first time. You've caught the action well, you some wheel blur and some frozen moments where you can see the dirt flying around which gives the sense of speed. Panning does take awhile to master and I'm still getting grips with it.

Thanks Paul, that's a kind offer. I may well take you up on that sometime. I was having a lot of fun experimenting with positions and settings, probably put a few years wear on my camera's shutter mind but well worth it.:)
I must say, throughout the day it never occurred to me to drop the ss below 400 even for the panning shots but I recon if I could improve my technique, slower shutter speeds would let me drop the iso a bit as well.

I've been shooting Mx for a year now and I'm still experimenting with different settings.
Lol in that year of shooting I've done more shots than in the last 10 years.
