Want Pointers Great Blue Heron

    The composition is indeed decent enough, tho there may be a case for including the whole reflection. However, the whites on it's head and face side are blown. I assume the light was fairly harsh and in these circumstances I tend to under expose slightly to ensure keeping detail in whites. When all detail is lost due to the overexposure of an area, they cannot be recovered but they can sometimes be cloned over, thus partially or wholly remedying the issue.

    I would have liked to see the whole reflection but overall it is a great image.

    Thanks! I did not get the whole reflection in the original (this is cropped a bit). The whites are not blown on my histogram. It was a fairly dark cloudy day.

    I dunno about the histogram, I rarely refer to it and prefer to go by what my eye tells me but they are definable blown.
