I am off to Mexico tomorrow

It had become an annual tradition now. I am off to Mexico tomorrow to Cancun. My father in law is paying so we are staying in the city where he can get a daily tennis match in.

Brief history of Cancun. In 1970 it was only a small fishing village. The Mexican government thought it would be a good place for tourists because of the short flight times to so much of North America. Not only did it have decent beaches in what has become the "Hotel Zone" (a large coral reef shaped like a 7) but it was also "near" many discovered Mayan ruins.

The Mexican government provided the financing for the first few hotels. These proved successful and many more followed until we have the side by side resorts that exist now.
