I think there is a composition there somewhere, just not sure you have quite found it.

I think a good composition might have been a portrait crop with the stream, falls, and structure. You did nail the exposure time on the water and I like all of the mosses on the stream shore.

The subject and exposure are perfect. I am happy enough with the composition, though it also works well - maybe even better - as a square crop, or a portrait, with the stream being the determining factor for width

The exposure for the water has worked well. Cropping in from the left will help I think.

Better, I think, but I wouldn't have lost anything on the right hand side

Yep, that looks better. Possibly a little less on the top and more at the bottom.

Thanks @Phill104 Last try. I had to do a lot of digital gardening/river cleaning to get more on the bottom.

    David,
Concerning the composition; I think moving in on this image is a mistake. I wouldn't crop this at all, the waterfall is the subject, but, without the background to identify the location/environment it is just a waterfall. I would have captured this scene vertically with more of the river in the foreground.
In my humble opinion Landscape photography is all about taking the viewer to a place, to see and feel what you felt when you pushed the shutter.
Post processing is another way to draw your viewer in, many possibilities, including a vignette to accent the waterfall would work.
    Keep at it!
