I've spent the last two evenings at Neist Point hoping for a sunset but being rewarded with thick grey cloud the first night and clear skies apart from a low cloud bank on the north west horizon the second. After the fail yesterday I thought I'd hang about for twilight to see if I could capture something a little different instead as the moon was almost full and heading in the right direction to be useful.

Sweet shot, how have you handled the moon movement over the 30s exposure?

Beautiful - very well exposed and I like the silky look of the sea.

At 26mm there isn't enough movement to worry about over 30 seconds, it's only slightly elongated when you look closely.

Aaah you know me well Ed, the sea is a separate 6 minute exposure from earlier in the evening apart from the moonlit part that I blended in as I preferred the water softer than 30 seconds gave.

Very dramatic - love the moonlight just peeping around the headland

Refreshing to see a different Neist Point shot. Was it busy with campers when you were there?

Last night was the busiest as I visited again for a third time. We booked a table at the three chimneys and it's the closest spot for a good night spot for the motorhome. There were about 7 motorhomes & campervans and probably 20 tents dotted about the place. I like seeing people enjoying the outdoors and I didn't see any signs of folks leaving a mess. Coming from somewhere where camping simply isn't allowed anywhere apart from sites it's a refreshing change!

Great effort involved in getting this Barry! Patience is a virtue, so they say. IMHO I think just a lift in those shadows in the cliff face and give a colour boost to those beautiful orange colours as well. Others may disagree, what do you reckon?

That's about how it looks on my laptop Isac, my expoted jpgs always seem a touch darker and flatter.

Excellent timing and a great shot.
The only improvement I might suggest is to have taken it from a location slightly to the right so you can see the whole of the moon reflection on the sea.
But I am being very picky.

I have got a shot taken a few minutes later when the moon has moved further to the right clearing the cliff but I preferred the way the rim light made the rock face stand out from this shot so chose this one to work on. I may have made an error of judgement perhaps?

What a shame Barry. Any way to compensate for that in the JPG conversion? I don't have that issue in PS. What's your workflow in saving for the forum images?

My workflow is a bit in the air as I am travelling and using a new uncalibrated laptop to edit, my calibration gear is in store with most of our possessions. I've always used 'save for web' as I find the control over file size is better than any other method that I've tried. I have noticed that the new laptop has the embed profile option deselected which I normally use so I have reselected that.

This is a great shot and a good reminder to adapt to the situation and still get a great shot.
Thank you for your posting.

Thanks for that Barry. I'm sure it will get back to normal when you get back to using a real computer. My "embed color profile" makes no difference when using "Save for web". Do you leave the original image size as is before save for web or do you resize it to 1024 then use save for web?
