Have you had any compatibility issues? I never did, even upgrading my OS and Lightroom.

Yeah see the advertising. Expensive though!
My free version still works well BUT slow with my slow PC.

I installed the free version many moons back, re-installed it on my new PC with the latest LR/PS. Not sure why as I have only used it twice in all that time. I don’t do more than 5 mins PP on most images which probably explains why.

I still like the way Silver Efex does mono conversions.

That is what I used both times. I quite like it, but don’t do many mono shots. It is something I plan to do more of. Back in my teens I did loads of time in the darkroom shooting masses of mono stuff. Not sure why I stopped.

Tempted, but I have DxO Photo Lab 2 Elite so the free offer provides me nothing, I rarely use presets, and the only real benefit that I see is that the NIK menu will scale properly for my monitor. I think I'll wait. I expect Photo Lab 3 will be announced in the Fall.

I installed NIK years ago, even before Google purchased it (paid ~ A$100). Not sure if installing the free trial version will kill my paid for version. I would like to try it though.

It works Mike but I can say little more than that. I just haven't used it much so cannot give an honest opinion.

I'm still running the old version, apart from it glitching a bit on the laptops (it's something to do with neither the old one or the newer one having a dGPU I think) I've not felt a need to update; and as it runs well enough on the desktop until the point where software creep gets it (could well be with the next revision of MacOS) then at the moment I'm staying put.

Is it 32bit? Next Mac OS update will kill it.

It's 64 bit, but in the info.plist for stuff it's specifying Carbon and that's getting dropped on Catalina.

Yes, yes it is. No carbon, no 32bit. In theory Apple could really clean up their code base.

Indeed, I've a feeling that there's going to be a lot of folk I know blowing up my phone come 10.15 with the same woe "I've got X app, it's 64 bit, it's not working..." because of the scattergun codebase that Apple have at the moment.

I understand is does for most people. The whole situation can be blamed on Google. They bought Nik because they wanted the Snapseed App. They discounted Nik, which was ok, but then when they made it free they completely devalued the brand. DxO bought Nik for the control points technology. They are also trying to make money off Nik but they need to bring that value back by actually creating something of value that is new. I cannot see the new Nik being successful unless DxO adds features.

My understanding from using Nik is that it's all about the filters which can be extensively customised. Yes there is the HDR and Velvia which I don't use as I like to play with the filters more.
