New Nik Collection Released

I have seen people complaining about the price. I remember when each program was over $100 and it was a bargain when Google dropped it to $149 for the whole collection.

Here a lot
$50 seems a bargain for new users but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of new features for existing users. Don't think I'll be upgrading (yet).

I imagine for those who paid gooooogle about £100 (ME) for their set or for those who later download the frree offfering there aint no need to pay another 50 ......only new users but I cant see it selling as much as they would like.........But I could be wrong...........

Seems more like a way of getting some revenue

Thanks. DXO has not posted a lot about what’s new with the new one.
Mike
In the press release they said no new features. This was a code optimizing, updates needed for current operating systems, incompatibility issues with current Adobe CC, and re-branding.

I've only ever used Silver FX Pro and I dropped that in favour of Skylum's "Tonality" a few months ago.
No reason to revisit that decision at the moment, by the looks of it...

Looks like they looking for beta testers who are willing to pay $50

If there had been some new features, I could see the justification, but I think this is taking the ****:(

I missed one new/major fix (the last):

NEW - Compatible with the latest Windows and Mac operating systems
The 2018 Nik Collection by DxO is now fully functional with the latest 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.
NEW - Adobe Creative Cloud now supported
The app is now completely compatible with Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC 2018, and Photoshop Elements CC 2017/2018!
NEW - Optimized user experience
The Selective Brush tool is now fully operational, and you can modify filters and dynamic objects freely.
The Selective Brush was only partially operational before.

The price for the NIK Collection looks good. Lower than it once was. Not sure that DxO will do much with it but fine-tuning. I expect that they do not want NIK to compete against their other products. Probably a great application for those that don't have it, of little interest to those that do.

Be careful with this. Loads of people are complaining they have installed the trial version to see if there were any updates etc, only to find it overwrote the free google version. So when the trial expires they are left with nothing.

I'll hold on to my shillings for now!

I tried the free version from google and really was not impressed. As I have a separate Dxo Product for BW images I will stick with that so no need to even look at SilverEfex. Of course I lost all my free ones when resetting my computer a few weeks ago.

I may be tempted. Been wanting to up grade my LR 6 to a CC subscription but read somewhere about the compatibility issues. Only use one small element of NIK on my pictures as a little preset tweak so been holding back because I'd be gutted to lose it.
