Although I am just an amateur photographer I would like to start earning a bit of cash to help pay for all those expensive lenses that I keep wanting to buy. I can only get so much past my wife so need to start making my hobby pay.

I set up a Squarespace website and am still working on it. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions that people may be able to offer.

You can find it at: www.markheslingtonphotography.com

Thanks for taking to the time to read my post.

Apologies to the moderator for posting a link to my website. I missed the rule about not posting external links until I had posted 5 things but as I wasn't advertising anything I didn't think there would be a problem. Sorry again.

Perhaps you could post it after the mandatory posting rule.

Thanks Fogey, I'm new to the forum and didn't read the rules so my fault. I will repost once I've been with the forum longer. As it wasn't advertising I never thought it would be a problem but I should have read the rules.

Any time. Personally, I'm always happy to help with somebody's website.

As a rule of thumb, try to view your website as a high quality on-line magazine and design accordingly.

Buy a couple of high class women's magazines to get some lay-out ideas.

    Hi,

Your website looks GREAT!!! Can I ask how long it took to make? I am curious, as I really want to do a website for my images. Always hated website creation. How much did it cost to make? Seen Karl Taylor mention this before so any help would be great!

Thanks Jon, I'm glad you like my site. I found Squarespace pretty easy to work out, there were a couple of areas that took more work but there is plenty of help and tutorials to help you on the Squarespace website. My site took me around a week to produce but that time includes time to prepare the images I wanted to include.

Once you have it set up you can change the template whenever you want if you decide to change the look of your site.

I would recommend them and although you have to pay for it I find it well worth the money to have a professional website.

Hi, that is great. I was thinking of getting someone else to do it for me, however I am not sure if it would work out. I may check it out, as I am needing to get a website created. Last event I did, people where asking me for business cards and website, I couldn't give either. My old business cards where out of date and I only have my fanpage. I am hoping to get it sorted, but browsing here to get ideas etc.

Good luck, all photographers need a website these days to show off their portfolio. You need to make sure you stand out as there are so many photographers out there, not all good but then they are the ones that tend to not post their work online. What type of photography do you specialise in?

I am working within the fitness models/Models side of photography. I am aiming to do more works however its just getting the experience and obviously the people to see the work. What about yourself? I cannot post my links but my fanpage is on facebook, just type in jon harrison and my fanpage should pop up

I like your website: clean and elegant. Your logo is a little small for me, as I can't read it without magnifying glass and your about me page looks empty at this end. Other than that, it works for me.
