I found today a Canon EF 35-105mm f4.5-5.6 USM for $55. It appeared to be in good condition. I cannot seem to find a review on this lens because it is quite old. I would try it out before buying, check for mould, etc. Anyone know it? It was first released in 1992.

    Here are specs: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/eflenses/lens_data.php?ID=92

    1 GBP = 1.60 CAD

I think it was a kit lens that came with one of the film SLR.

Wrong lens guys, it is a f/4.5 - 5.6 not f/3.5. Paul, that was not even the same focal lengths :)

generally a lot of the early EOS kit type lenses were optically a lot better than the current kit lenses, you will find the focus speed slow and noisy by comparison but the range makes for a good general walk about type lens

    should also be cheap

Thats not always the case, my 50mm f1.8 mkI would sell for almost twice the cost of a brand new MkII

I wouldnt mind betting the older 3.5-5.6 will be cheaper and probably optically better than the 4.5-5.6 ultrasonic lens too

I found one review, here at Emedia Sorry Don, but there are far too few reviews out there, for what seems like a great 1990 lens.

I tried it out. It was horrible on auto focus and the zoom was sticky around 70mm. Not very good. They did have a 380ex Flash that worked well and I picked that up for $65.
