It has been around since 1959.

From their Facebook:

The past few weeks and months have been incredibly tough for many of us. For our part, we have been dedicated to continuing to do what we can and bring you the Practical Photography that you know and love. Sadly, as you may be aware, our parent company, Bauer Media, has announced that it intends to merge, close or sell 10 of its titles. Even more sadly, Practical Photography is among those titles. It’s been a very difficult time for the PP family, but now that the news has sunk in, we wanted to let you know all that we can.

As far as we’re aware, unless a buyer swoops in at the 11th hour, it looks as though the August 2020 issue, which goes to press in three weeks, will be the last and final issue of Practical Photography before we as a team will be dissolved. Obviously, this has huge ramifications for ongoing projects like Camera School, and we will be posting about this to the Camera School Facebook page as and when we know more. Likewise with subscriptions.
While we would love for a buyer to snap us up, we’re also aware that the conditions at the moment mean this is far from a guarantee. However, while there is a very real possibility that Practical Photography will cease to be, we want to assure you that we’re fully committed to putting our all into what may be our final issue, and bringing you everything that makes Practical Photography the best-selling photography magazine in the country. If we have to bow out, we will do so in style.

Whatever the future holds for us, we would just like to say a massive thank you. We really appreciate the support that you’ve shown us over the years, and from all of us to all of you, keep shooting.

I remember picking up a copy at BAM a couple months ago. I was shocked at how thin it was, a fraction of what it once was, and thought then they wouldn't make it much longer.

I found it useful in my early days.
