Over a week ago, I started seeing nesting material showing up on top of my mailbox and I brushed it off every morning. Last Wednesday morning I didn't even check on it and by Thursday this completed nest appeared, complete with Robins giving it the final touches. Fast forward to yesterday when Mrs. Robin decided it was time to take occupancy of her new home and refuses to leave.

Cute and you get mail ordered eggs direct to your door, might be a bit small for a fry up though...;)
Really its a pretty odd place to set up a home in such a relatively low spot which probably has a lot of foot traffic .

how fantastic, we have blue tits nesting in a box, robins in a hawthorn tree, collared doves in a spruce and pigeons in an elder tree, not to mention a squadron of sparrows. our back garden is like sitting at the end of a runway at Heathrow airport :)

Well it is lockdown and I'm pretty much a hermit to start with so there's not all that much traffic. The front door gets used once or twice a day but I would imagine that should have been enough to scare them off.

Our place is the same, Dot. We have to time our dashes across the lawn to coincide with with air traffic control. Perhaps the congestion is one of the reasons that this pair has chosen such a precarious location to nest.

Now you are doing your bit to help nature along. They are going to **** all over the mailbox and wall though.

My mother had doves that would nest in a wreath on the front door. Usually Robins like to nest higher up in the trees, I'm surprised she decided that your mailbox would suffice.

It will give me an excuse to replace the gun on my power washer. :)
