G'day all

One thing about the Outback is clean horizons with no city buildings and power lines. At sundown, it opens up visual possibilities ...

1) Last rays of sun as the shadow of the horizon climbs up the tree trunk

exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/80s x F2,8; ISO-320; lens at 4x zoom / 105mm FF equiv

2) Orange sky at night is a Shepherd's delight

exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/125s x F2,8; ISO-100; lens at 5x zoom / 120mm FF equiv

As always, feedback welcome

Great shots Phil. Number 1 would have been better if the tree hadn't been cutoff IMO.

Gorgeous colours, Phil. The bucket hanging on the trunk in the first is quite the attention grabber though.

Liking the second one very much - gorgeous sky and I like the soft overall effect.

G'day Lynn

Thx for your thoughts ... with images like #2 above I try for 2-things .... a) I use a long lens, not wide angle - anything from 8x to 20x zoom and b) I underexpose a bit to avoid bleaching of the bright bits.

I preset "minus 2/3 EV or minus 1-EV" before pointing the focus and metering square at the sun's spot in the frame and pressing the button.
(and as I have often mentioned, all my images are out-of-camera JPGs .... I don't do any RAW stuff)

Phil
