New lights arrived today so had to try them out! One of my kids was the reluctant model, bribed with plenty of sweets!!

I love portraiture, kids make great models with their flawless skin. Nice focussing on the leading eye on the first, loving the DoF in the last, with the brim OOF.

lighting looks pretty decent to me.
with a brimmed hat like that I'd consider a reflector below.

something like this (doesn't have to be a triflector, one will help):

Thanks Tenchy, I’ll try that next time.

Think the first is my pick of these ... good lighting and good pose.... doesn't look reluctant at all.

Nice set with good lighting. My only crit is to watch out for canoe eyes as in the last shot. A slight backwards tilt of the head brings the pupils level in the eyes. Canoe eyes look a bit scary in photos.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve never heard of canoe eyes, I’ll keep an ‘eye’ on that in future. :)

That first one is really nice. Agree with comment son DOF. If I had something like this I would probably overcook the processing. Looks nice and natural.
